Wastwater in the Lake District, surrounded by mountains, Red Pike, Kirk Fell, Great Gable and Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain) has been named as Britain's favourite view by viewers of the ITV series 'Britain's Favourite View' . Wastwater is a very tranquil and beautiful part of Cumbria, where you can surround yourself with stunning views of the lakes and mountains.

 

Waterhead Hotel is approx. 40 miles from Wastwater, though it may seem far, taking the scenic route over Hardknott Pass and Wrynose Pass, your guarantee the journey will amaze you with some fantastic views and attractions along the way including L'al Ratty (Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway) perfect for children and train enthusiasts and Muncaster Castle, to keep yourself entertain along your journey to Wastwater.

Campbells' Coniston Trail
The Ruskin Museum is endeavouring to bring Donald Campbell's Bluebird K7 home to Coniston for display and re-build in a purpose-built extension, together with other funding and grants the Waterhead Hotel have contributed to the project. Diarise to visit the Waterhead Hotel and re-live Campbell's journey…., we will keep you posted. Did you know that Sir Malcolm Campbell, his wife, son and daughter stayed at the Waterhead Hotel in August 1939, when he broke the record just two weeks before the outbreak of the Second World War.
